Write for us
We welcome thoughtful pitches about the architecture, printed matter, customs, collections and shared experiences around cinema. A strong proposal finds one specific subject and gives readers a fresh way to notice it.
What makes a good pitch
Tell us the central question, the angle you would take and why the subject suits Stellar Cinema Journal. A narrow, well-shaped idea is more useful than a broad overview. Explain what a reader could understand or notice after reading, and mention the kinds of sources or examples you expect to draw on.
The writing we seek
We value accurate, original work in a calm, attentive voice. Pitches may explore cinema spaces, filmgoing customs, printed ephemera, collecting or exhibition culture, but should not duplicate material already planned. Be open about uncertainties, avoid unsupported claims and distinguish personal reflection from verifiable detail.
Sending a proposal
Send your proposal through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a working title, a short summary, your proposed approach and any relevant links or source details. Please do not send a complete manuscript unless it has been requested.
Cinema is a place as well as a picture
The building, the paper in your hand and the pause before a screening all belong to film culture. We make room for these quieter details.
